July 14th, 2007 is a trip to Washington DC. It's my first trip here since I came to the U.S. I was very excited, and counting for this day.
We started our trip at 8.30 AM. The bus was waiting for us in front of our dorm. It took 2 hours from Newark to DC. After we arrived, we got off at the Smithsonian Museum in the heart of DC. It was very big collection of museums. The Aerospace, Art, Modern Art, Sculptures, National History, American History museums were collected to be placed together here.
Even if we had plenty of time before we left (we left at 7.00 PM), we couldn't see it all. Many many interesting places were left unseen. The climax of this trip was the Lincoln Memorial and the National Archives (where the declaration of Independence was showed). We took a lot of pictures here. It's nearly 1000 pictures! (wow, how crazy were we)
Lincoln memorial was terrific place to see. It was located in the best location. The Washington memorial was right in front of it, and there was a large rectangular pool in front of the Lincoln memorial which was very beautiful.
Lincoln's quotes was great, even if it was hard to understand. The language was old-fashioned, so I couldn't understand it all. There was also Martin Luther King Jr's classic quote on the stairway to the memorial hall: "I have a dream." This may be the origin of the American dream.
