Caving at Laurel Caverns

It's Saturday for caving! Laurel Caverns is the name of the cave. I take a bus from CMU which takes about 1.30 hour. Inside the cave is really dark! (you can't see your hand in front of you without a light), and it's really cold. I have to crawl (yes, I do!) above a shallow stream, climb over stones, and slip through muddy ground. It takes about 2.30 hours to complete this trip, and go out with dirty clothes!

Mac OS X Leopard World Premier

Wow! New Mac OS X "Leopard" has its world premier grand opening today at 6 PM. Park & I go the Apple store in Walnut street. There is a very long line (about 100 persons in the line). I wait for 1 hour until I get a free T-shirt (Yes!). After taking a look at Leopard for a while, I realize that I still have a Vista machine I just bought, so I can't buy it now. :-(

It's Nam Prik Ta Yong! It safes my life for these past 2 months!

Fall foliage

Today Thai students have a meeting for taking pictures of fall foliage. The trees in front of Warner Hall are very red and yellow. Wow! It's very beautiful! This is one of my dream to see the red & yellow leaves of maples. :)

My Beloved Bike

Let me proudly present my beloved bike....here is Jacky. He's my bike I bought from a guy here for only 20$. It's a very good deal comparing to its usefulness. I ride him to school everyday and it takes only 5 minutes! Wow! I can sleep longer! \o/

My Jack O'Lantern

It's Haloween. Yes! It's coming. So, today I create my own Jack O'Lantern from a pumpkin bought from Strip district (an Asian grocery store area in Pittsburgh). I think he's pretty cute rather than scary. -_-"

Seasons change

Wow! At last the real "fall" has come. After being stressed with my midterm exam (I didn't post this blog for a whole week!), I've just noticed that the colors of trees change from green to yellow and red already. Does this mean that it's fall? However, I really love the trees' colors at this time. It's really beautiful!!

No picture for this blog. Just make sure that I post a blog everyday :P (even today I have posted 3 blogs at a time!) So, this blog is just for maintaining my statistics. Hei hei hei (actually, I begin to feel lazy :-( That's bad!!)

How to Survive From the Midterm Exam !!??

As the topic says, how can I survive from this midterm exam ??? !!! Arrrgghhh....

After realized that I don't know many things in the subjects that I will be tested this incoming Tuesday, I committed to myself to READ, READ, and READ !!!

No more guitar, no more soccer, only reading now !!!!

P.S. this picture was named "Andy Unleash" by Chim (my friend :P).

Software Engineering Class

Software Engineering for Information Systems is my favorite class in this semester. I learn a lot about software creating process. Especially, the instructor is really good and funny. His name is Eric Nybergh. I really love his style of teaching. He always gives us an reading assignment before class which is about 20 pages each day. Prior the class starts, there will be a quiz to make sure that his students actually did their reading assignment. Even his voice is pretty low (make me sleepy :P), but his humor helps me to wake up. I really have fun in this class.

P.S. actually, two more staffs are in this class also. Carolyn, and Andy (TA).

New wallpaper

Here is my new wallpaper! Wow! Looks really good & elegant (like from Apple corp. :D).

The letters 'C' and 'R' are my initial. They are from my real name: Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul.

What your letters stand for?

Have you ever spell your name via a phone call? Sometimes you have to make sure that the letter you're spelling is heard correctly, you have to use some words which related to it. I always face hard situations while I have to find an example for a letter immediately. I've ever used "Holy" for 'H' (which is really inappropriate word. It should be something pretty simple like "Harry.") Then, I gathered lists of these letter-representative words from my experiences and some words were from my roommates. Let's see what are they!

A = Andy, Annie, Angel, Angelina, Argentina
B = Bob, Ben, Bible, British
C = Charlie, Charles, Chile, China
D = Dolly, Denis, Denmark
E = Ethan, Egg, England, Evan
F = F*ck (:D) --> should be 'Frank', France, Father
G = Gary, Grand(e), Golf, Goal
H = Harry, Heaven, Hillary, Holland
I = Isaac, Italy, Irvin
J = Julie, Japan, July, June
K = Katie, Kate, Korea
L = Lilly, Laos?, Lorry
M = Mac, Minny, Mickey, Manhattan
N = Nancy, North, Niagara
O = Orange, Oracle, Owen
P = Patrick, Pacific, Poland
Q = ? >> hard one. How about 'Quantum'?
R = Rose, Russia, Red, Ricky
S = Susan, Spain, Sweet, Sven
T = Tom, Tim, Todd, Ted, Thailand (:D)
U = Umbrella, Uncle, Ugly
V = Viagra !!! >> any word better than this?
W = Wine, Winny
X = Xerox, Xenon, Xenophobia
Y = Yellow, Yemen
Z = Zero, Zen

If anybody knows other words, please tell me more! :D

How lightsaber work!

One of my favorite movies is "STAR WARS!" Yes! why not! I always feel excited when I see a jedi uses his lightsaber to fight with hisvillains! I really love jedi, so do I really love his weapon, lightsaber.

Today, I find a topic from "howstuffwork.com" about the lightsaber. The topic is "how lightsaber works." Maybe this is just a joke, and it doesn't really happen (I think it hardly to be happen at present). The topic is about the mechanism inside the lightsaber. How the light comes out, what are the components which generates the laser, etc. These are really interesting!

I hope someday I would have a chance to try a real lightsaber. Can I use it with my professors? :D

Beautiful trees along a street

I always dream about a small street which has many trees along both of its sides. All the trees are in the same alignment and make the street looks really beautiful. I saw it only in pictures from the Internet, and I hope someday I will see it myself.

At last, my dream came true. I found a street near my university which contains a lot of trees along its sides. Most of the trees' leaves were becoming yellow for incoming fall. Then, I took this picture for my own memory.

e-Crime summit

I posted this blog late for 2 days! On Oct 5, 2007, I went to e-Crime summit for my Privacy class. The teacher (prof. Cranor) reserved us a seat already. I thought the suitable clothes for academic summit should be shirt, pants, and suit. So, I wore all of them (I never do like this before, except TOC - Technical Opportunity Conference, i.e. job fair). However, I had to ride my bike to the summit place (one hotel in Pittsburgh), which decreased my good look a little bit :p.

The e-Crime summit was really interesting. I attended a session of paper presentation. There were 3 papers about protecting Unicode spam mail, machine learning algorithms for spam filtering, and phishing study.

The most important part is I saw many people wearing polo shirts and jeans! Then, why did I have to wear this elegant stuffs!!!

Sleepless Society

Arrgghhhh... my tons of homework are overwhelming me! Also as P'Pop and P'Ping, who have been studying hard since the semester started. This week, I slept at 4.00 AM for 3 days in a row -_-"

Following this current situation, I changed my door's picture to "SLEEPLESS SOCIETY." That's really true!! And nearby it is our own images. :D

Anyone Can Cook (Episode II)

I cooked another "Kaeng Kai" again last week. This is a picture while I was cooking. Looks very delicious, right? :P

I always cook big meal like this once a week. What's the next dish should be?

Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

Do you have your childhood dream? I think everyone has. But the most important question is "Can you make all your childhood dreams come true?." I don't think everyone can.

This is "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" lecture of Prof. Randy Pausch, Carnegie Mellon University. He is dying from terminal cancer while he is only 47. He's a founder of Alice program, and co-founder of ETC department of Carnegie Mellon University.

For me, it's very sad to here that he has a wife and three children. The world is going to lose one of the valuable people in the world....
